A V-1 flying bomb "buzzbomb" plunging toward central London, 1945

,
This bomb landed on a side road off Drury Lane blasted several buildings, including the office of the Daily Herald. The British used to destroy these using a fighter plane and slipping a wing under the wing of the missile. They would then flip their wing up which would throw off the stabilizing gyros in the missile and make it crash. This was preferable to simply shooting it due to their tendency to explode in your face when they were shot.
